KakaoHealthcare,announced on May 27th that it has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Rumah Sakit Universitas Indonesia (RSUI), Indonesia’s national university hospital, to explore localization and expansion strategies for its AI-based glucose management service, PASTA.
This collaboration follows the “Korea-Indonesia-ASEAN AI Workshop” held on September 7, 2023, during the Korea-ASEAN Summit, where the South Korean Minister of Science and ICT introduced a ‘Digital Cooperation Plan.’
This plan aims to offer ASEAN countries AI-based wellness products from South Korea for free, promoting the international growth of South Korea’s AI solutions.
In line with this initiative, KakaoHealthcare has been working on forming partnerships with the Indonesian government, hospitals, and private sectors, in cooperation with the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.
Through this new agreement, KakaoHealthcare will pilot test its solution with doctors and patients at RSUI, customizing and enhancing it for local use.
Additionally, some AI engines will be adjusted using local data. Dexcom, a global enterprise, will provide Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices free of charge for the pilot.
In February, KakaoHealthcare launched its AI-driven smart glucose management solution, PASTA, which is a class 2 software as a medical device certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
PASTA uses CGM to monitor real-time glucose levels, combining this data with user-entered information on diet, exercise, and sleep to offer lifestyle recommendations through AI.
This MOA is significant as it sets the stage for PASTA’s introduction into the Indonesian market through a partnership with a prominent local hospital. We aim to achieve meaningful outcomes swiftly by collaborating with local healthcare providers.
